Cheap computer monitors - choose the best monitor for your pc system

Computer monitors is a good way to save some money when you want a cheap computer system. You should, however, choose the size and quality of your monitor carefully. There are two different types of monitors available today: TFT (also known as LCD) and CRT.

The CRT monitor

The CRT monitor is the bulky one with a tube, and if you choose this kind of monitor, it should at least a 17-inch monitor capable of a refresh rate at minimum 75 hertz. The higher the refresh rate the better because a higher refresh rate will make the monitor flicker less. I stress the choice of monitor, because you should have one that does not make your eyes tired and the lower the refresh rate is the quicker your eyes will get tired. Remember that you will spend hours looking at it, so like when you choose a TV, make sure that it is good enough for you. CRT monitors are cheaper than TFT monitors, but they also weigh more, take up more space and consume about double the energy of a TFT monitor.

TFT/LCD monitors

If you want a TFT monitor, go for no less than 15 inches. The reason why I think this is because a CRT monitor has a smaller viewable area than a TFT monitor, so when comparing CRT and TFT monitors, subtract one inch from the size of a CRT monitor and you will know its viewable area. Just as you look at the refresh rate of a CRT monitor, you should look at the response rate of a TFT monitor. The lower the response rate, the quicker the monitor will "adapt" to changes in the image - which is crucial if you want to play action games on your computer. Never go for a monitor with a refresh rate above 30 milliseconds, preferably below 20 milliseconds. 10 milliseconds may not seem a great deal, but I guarantee you that you will notice a difference. The TFT monitor is not as big and bulky as its CRT counterpart and it saves space on your desk.
